Summary

Henry Maudslay was a British inventor and machine tool designer and manufacturer. He designed highly successful screw-turning lathes and invented a micrometer capable of measuring to within one ten-thousandth of an inch.

After his death his machine tool company, Maudslay, Field and Co went on to be run by his sons as Maudslay, Sons and Field.
