- Abstract
'High pressure steam launch with surface condensers.' The Engineer, vol. 22, 9 November 1866, p. 354. A twin screw steam launch (length 42 feet, beam 10 feet 11 inches, draught 1 foot 11 inches forward and 3 feet and one and a half inches aft; trial speeds 7.9 knots non-condensing, 8.1 knots (condensing), fitted with two 6-inch, 5 horsepower (nominal), 30.7 indicated horsepower (non-condensing) 32.8 indicated horsepower (condensing), with inverted-vertical simple marine engines mounted on either side and at the opposite end to the fire doors of a marine return tubular boiler. Directly coupled to two four-bladed propellers 2 feet 6 inches in diameter, pitch 3 feet 6 inches; built by Messrs. J and G Rennie, London.
