Summary
Ludwig Obry was an Austrian Naval officer who developed the precision gimbaled gyroscope in 1895, later known as the Obry gyroscope or Obry apparatus. This device was acquired by Robert Whitehead in 1898 and it became an integral part of his torpedo design.
