Summary
The HMS Shah was a iron-hulled frigate designed by Sir Edward Reed belonging to the Royal Navy.
HMS Shah was laid down in 1870, launched in 1873 and completed in 1876.
On 29 May 1877, HMS Shah was involved in the Battle of Pacocha and was engaged in a conflict with the Peruvian vessel Huascar. During this conflict the Shah fired the first torpedo to be used in anger, though Huascar did not sustain damage from the torpedo.
