Summary

George Green was a British shipbuilder and marine engineer who worked at and later managed the historic shipyard at Blackwall, Greenwich. He was made a partner in his father-in-law John Perry's firm in 1797 and it was thereon named Perry, Sons and Green of Blackwall. By the time of Green's retirement in 1838, his three sons had followed in his footsteps and become partners in the firm. Over his career he was involved in the building of over fifty ships, twenty-one of which were built for the Royal Navy.
