"STING RAY
Type: Surface ship-and air-launched lightweight anti-submarine weapon.
Development: The Sting-Ray is an advanced lightweight ASW torpedo designed for launching from surface ships, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. It may be used in either deep or shallow waters. Externally it is a fat, whale-nosed cylinder with a pump-jet propulsion system and four control surfaces mounted aft of the propulsor. A parachute pack is attached to the rear of the torpedo to act as a drogue when launched from surface ships or as a retarder when launched from aircraft.Internally the weapon is divided into homing, warhead, guidance/control, battery and propulsion sections."
