This article offers the author’s comments on an article by Joe Buff published in the June 2007 issue of the ‘U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings.’ He criticizes Buff for ignoring the potential capabilities of non-nuclear submarines, political risks, and liabilities associated with nuclear vessels of any type and the security risks associated with sending an Attack Submarine (Nuclear Propulsion) SSN close in to shore.
