The U.S. Navy is leasing a Swedish Gotland-class submarine to conduct antisubmarine warfare (ASW) training exercises with U.S. naval forces. While the Gotland will be acquired specifically for ASW training, the craft's propulsion plant and operational capabilities will garner attention and it may well enhance arguments for U.S. acquisition of such craft for ASW training and special operations."
