- Abstract
"The article argues for a switch in emphasis from simplistic historical remembrance to a higher use of analytic history to inform current and future actions. Some senior leaders in the Department of the Navy and its services have made concerted efforts to marginalize the very programs that collect, preserve, and publicize the history of the Navy and the Marine Corps. It is especially dismaying that these moves come at a time when the Marine Corps is investing a great deal of money in the creation of its new national museum, which should serve as a tremendous resource for spreading knowledge about naval history."
