A second experiment on the use of torpedoes [mines] against the Oberon was to be conducted on the 21st of August 1874 using a charge of 500 pounds of gun cotton placed at a distance of 80 feet from the Oberon i.e. 20 feet closer than the previous experiment. Ellis #147.
