"The Jane Naval War Game," as the new naval Kriegspiel had been named, was to be published by Sampson Low, Marston, and Co. in the latter part of June 1898. The proofs of the rules had been revised and approved by Captain H.I.H. the Grand Duke Alexander Michaelovitch, of the Imperial Russian Navy; Captain H.S.H. Prince Louis of Battenberg, K.C.B., R.N., of the Majestic; Captain H. I. May, C.B., R.N.; and Lieutenant Kawashima, of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
