- Abstract
- "As the result of an exhibition of the working of the submarine boat Fulton at New York recently, the correspondent of the Standard states that Norway is expected to be a likely purchaser of three submarines of this type. It is said that while running submerged, the Fulton discharged a Whitehead torpedo with perfect accuracy, and dived repeatedly, once in three seconds, or quickly enough to dodge a shell aimed at it. Commander Geelmuyden was aboard. When he inspected the Holland submarine, he declared the Holland was incapable of the Fulton's performance.
