- Abstract
"As the result of an exhibition of the working of the submarine boat Fulton at New York recently, the correspondent of the Standard states that Norway is expected to be a likely purchaser of three submarines of this type. It is said that while running submerged, the Fulton discharged a Whitehead torpedo with perfect accuracy, and dived repeatedly, once in three seconds, or quickly enough to dodge a shell aimed at it. Commander Geelmuyden was aboard. When he inspected the Holland submarine, he declared the Holland was incapable of the Fulton's performance.
