'NEWPORT, R. I., Dec. 7. - After a year's preparation the third trial of the Cunningham rocket torpedo was made here today, in Coddington Cove…. All conditions appeared to favour the projectile, but no sooner had it been discharged than it went into the mud, though it had twenty-nine feet of water for nearly all the distance that it was expected to travel.'
