- Abstract
"For much of the latter part of the 20th Century, the UK Royal Navy (RN) was largely shaped, equipped and trained to undertake anti-submarine warfare (ASW) so as to safeguard transatlantic sea lines of communication against the Cold War threat." With the marked changed in circumstances that have occurred in the last few years the RN now requires the capability to counter modern diesel-electric submarines that could threaten strategic choke points.
