- Abstract
"Severe restrictions on the use of active sonar means that operators may not be able to use its full functionality except at wartime. UK RN officer also questions the fidelity and realism of shore-based simulators. Nor is sonar the only issue. Rear Admiral Paul Lambert, Capability Manager (Precision Attack) in the UK Ministry of Defence admitted that the RN was finding it 'harder and harder' to conduct heavyweight torpedo firings because of the environmental impact associated with their copper guidance wire."
