"The US Navy will formally begin an acquisition programme to develop and field its first hard-kill torpedo countermeasures system next month. The AN/WSQ-11 torpedo defense system (TDS), comprising acoustic sensors and processors as well as an Anti-Torpedo Torpedo (ATT), has been proposed by senior navy officials as a viable response to anti-access threats such as those posed by submarine-launched torpedoes to the service's aircraft carriers and other high-value units."
