"The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is studying the possible acquisition of the US Navy's (USN's) Mk 48 Advanced Capability (ADCAP) heavyweight torpedo as a military off-the-shelf (MOTS) alternative to its Spearfish wire-guided heavyweight torpedo inventory. The latest variant of the Mk 48 ADCAP wire-guided heavyweight torpedo the Mk 48 Mod 7 being co-developed by the US Navy and Australia introduces the new Common Broadband Advanced Sonar System (CBASS). In conjunction with new software algorithms, CBASS will deliver a broadband sonar designed to improve shallow-water performance and countermeasures."
