- Abstract
Built by John Samuel White of East Cowes on the turnabout system in which the deadwood was removed and double rudders were installed to facilitate turning this (length 150 feet, beam 17 feet 6 inches, depth 9 feet 6 inches, displacement 137 tons; trial speed 20.79 knots) steel hulled vessel was fitted with two 20 inch by 24 inch (2) by 18 inch stroke inverted vertical compound engines (total indicated horse-power 1387) built by G. E. Bellis operating at 319 revolutions per minute on steam supplied at 126 pounds per square inch by two locomotive boilers.
