- Abstract
The tabulated results of the three hours' official trial of the destroyer Akatsuki built by Yarrow and Company, Limited, Poplar, for the Imperial Japanese Government, held on the 21st of November 1901. The mean recordings for the three hours' trial were: steam pressure 230 pounds per square inch; steam pressure in the first intermediate receiver 64 pounds per square inch; steam pressure in the second intermediate receiver 13 pounds per square inch; vacuum 20.3 inches of mercury; air pressure in the stokeholds 1.3 inches of water gauge; mean revolutions per minute 404; mean speed during the three hours 31.121 knots; indicated horsepower 6,450; coal consumption during the three hours continuous run 1.97 pounds per indicated horsepower hour.
