- Abstract
Six connecting bolts on the starboard engine and three connecting bolts on the port engine of the torpedo gunboat Speedwell (length 230 feet between perpendiculars, beam 27 feet, draught 10 feet 6 inches; displacement 735 tons) were found to be broken during a trial of the Speedwell conducted in the Channel in October 1900.
