- Abstract
The three-hours coal coal-consumption trial of the turbine-propelled torpedo boat destroyer Viper conducted in mid-August 1900 was highly satisfactory. The Viper's contract speed was 31 knots, but on her return voyage to Portsmouth Harbour she easily maintained a speed of 31.18 knots at two-thirds full horsepower.
