Abstract

It was reported in the Western Mail Daily that although the 30-knot torpedo boat destroyer Osprey had only been in commission at Devonport for three months, she had developed serious machinery defects, and it was unlikely that she would be able to take place in the naval manoeuvres. The defects were discovered after the Osprey had returned to Devonport from Plymouth after the Belleisle experiments. The Osprey was paid off, and her officers and men transferred to the Fervent, which was to replace her in the flotilla.
