The 31-knot destroyer Oboro (length 220 feet 9 inches, draught 20 feet 6 inches; draught 5 feet 3 inches), built by Yarrow and Company, Limited, Poplar, for the Imperial Japanese Government was launched on the 5th of October, 1899, in the presence of Admiral Matsunaga and a large staff of Japanese officials.
