The author drew attention to the fact that in several cases the drawings of the connecting rods published in 'The Bullfinch disaster No. 1.' The Engineer, vol. 88, 1 September 1899, pp. 222-223, were not those fitted to the Violet, Sylvia, Haughty and Hardy. The connecting rods of the Violet, Sylvia, Haughty and Hardy supplied by Messrs. Doxford were hollow, and not solid as inferred by the drawings.
