- Abstract
The torpedo boat destroyer Akebono built by Yarrow and Company, Poplar, for the Imperial Japanese Government, maintained a trial speed of 31.159 knots during her official three hours continuous trial held in early May 1899. The Akebono was the third torpedo boat destroyer built by Yarrow and Company for the Imperial Japanese Government that had achieved a speed in excess of 31 knots making these vessels the fast group of torpedo boat destroyers possessed by any nation at that time.
