- Abstract
Prior to 1899 all British three-funnelled destroyers carried their masts between the middle and foremost funnels. By March 1899, most of the three-funnel destroyers had had their masts put before the foremost funnel. The new destroyers with three funnels all had this rig, carried a torpedo tube between the first and second funnel, and the middle funnel was much more aft than in earlier boats.
