- Abstract
The official trial of the armoured torpedo boat destroyer Misiones built by Yarrow and Company, Poplar, for the Argentinean Government, took place on the 9th of October 1896. A three-hour full speed run was made, with the Misiones loaded with 35 tons, the mean speed achieved was 27.1 knots, which was 1.1 knots in excess of the contract speed of 26 knots. The Corrientes, the last of the armoured torpedo boat destroyers to be built by Yarrow and Company for the Argentinean Government, was launched in early October 1896, with all her engines and boilers on board.
