The starboard propeller shaft bracket of the Skate broke during a three hour full-power trial. It was reported in the Army and Navy Gazette that the plates on the starboard quarter, to which the bracket had been attached were loosened, and that a quantity of seawater had found its way into the Skate as she made her way back to harbour.
