A critical review of The Navy Annual for 1896 by T. A. Brassey, Griffin and Company, Portsmouth. Satisfactory progress had been made in the design and construction of torpedo boat destroyers, particularly, the Desperate class, and it was anticipated that thirty of these vessels would be completed and ready for service before the end of 1896.
