Abstract

A steam launch (length 36 feet, beam 6 feet; trial speed 16 miles per hour), fitted with a 50 indicated horsepower three and three quarter inch, by six inch by nine inch by five inch stroke inverted-vertical triple-expansion marine engine operating at 750 revolutions per minute with steam supplied at 180 pounds per square inch by a patented water-tube boiler, and a steam canoe fitted with a two inch by two inch stroke inverted-vertical marine engine with steam supplied by a water-tube boiler were exhibited at the Royal Aquarium Exhibition of 1895, by Messrs. Simpson, Strickland and Company, Dartmouth.
