- Abstract
The torpedo gunboat Harrier underwent an eight-hour steam trial off Plymouth in August 1894. The engines indicated 2,696 horsepower with natural draught firing, nearly 200 indicated horsepower beyond the guaranteed value. The Harrier attained a speed of 18 knots, compared with 16.9 knots, and 17.1 knots respectively for H.M.S. Halcyon and Hazard, of the same class.
