- Abstract
A new torpedo boat No. 93 (length 140 feet, beam 15 feet 6 inches, draught 5 feet 4 inches; trial speed 23.85 knots) fitted with two inverted-vertical triple-expansion marine engines, 2,000 indicated horsepower (total), operating at 467 revolutions per minute with steam supplied at 225 pounds per square inch by two Thornycroft water-tube boilers, designed by W. H. White Director of Naval Construction, and built by John I. Thornycroft and Co. Chiswick for the British Government completed its trials off Sheerness on the 14th of December 1893.
