- Abstract
The torpedo catcher H.M.S. Speedy (length between perpendiculars 242 feet overall, beam 27 feet, draught 8 feet nine and a half inches; displacement 810 tons) fitted with two 4,500 indicated horsepower (total) inverted-vertical triple-expansion marine engines, built by Messrs. Thornycroft and Co. Chiswick for the British Government. The Speedy was the fist ship in the Royal Navy to be fitted with Thornycroft water-tube boilers.
