The No. 79 type first-class torpedo boat Empong (length 126 feet 8 inches overall) built by Yarrow and Co., Poplar, for the Dutch Government was fitted with a 1,200 horsepower triple-expansion engine operating on steam supplied by a marine locomotive boiler equipped with Yarrow's patent watertight ash pan.
